Please tell us a brief bio of your career – how long have you taught at Drury, what courses do you typically teach, what are your research interests, what is your educational background, etc.
My business experience has been in the financial and investment fields where I served as a portfolio manager to a money management firm specializing in investment-risk management. In addition, I served as the financial analyst to a large savings bank in Florida. Currently, in addition to my teaching, I serve in the capacity as a financial/investment advisor to the CEO of a local community bank.
Prior to arriving at Drury in August 2003, I served as the Director of Accreditation to the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Prior to ACBSP, I spent approximately five years in the United Arab Emirates where I served as the Dean (Manager) of Assessment and Business Coordinator for the Higher Colleges of Technology (System of 13 Colleges). And, prior to the international experience in the Emirates, I served as a Business School Dean. Also, I have served as an accreditation mentor/evaluator to educational institutions in Canada, Czech Republic, Hungary, France, Switzerland, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
I hold an Ed.D. from the University of Arkansas, MBA in Investments from the Baruch College of the City University of New York, and a baccalaureate degree in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. In addition, I have earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) investment designation. My research interests are in “investment market timing.”
How does the Breech School of Business prepare students for their professional career?
Breech faculty members really do care about the overall academic success of their students. I have noticed that the Breech faculty members have a true passion for teaching and, of course, student success.
What sets Breech apart from other business schools?
Breech has earned the designation of being accredited by both the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). This means that Beech has achieved and earned the international recognition for effective and quality business education.
What advice would you offer to a new student beginning their course of study in the Breech School of Business?
I highly recommend that each student get involved immediately within the Drury and Breech Communities. Get to be part of this great academic experience and setting. I have always maintained that one of the major advantages for students in doing their undergraduate work at a small, private liberal arts institution, like Drury, is the opportunity for direct interaction that they have not only with their professors but their peers.
