Beth joined Drury in 2004 as a faculty member where she taught in the departments of biology and chemistry and researched treatments for dental and bone diseases. Beth served as the director of pre-health science programs and dean of the College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences prior to being appointed as provost in 2017.

Beth has experience developing and assessing new courses and programs, developing partnerships between Drury and community organizations, creating and evaluating experiential learning experiences for students and promoting change at various levels within the university.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the president in all university initiatives and oversees the instructional and academic functions of the university. Responsible for instructional and faculty affairs, enrollment and retention, institutional research, online education, and the budgetary process of those areas that report directly to the provost, including Academic Affairs, Graduate Programs, Drury GO-academic, and the Cox Compass Center.

Since being appointed as provost, Beth has:

  • Worked with faculty to reevaluate teaching load and increase faculty compensation
  • Worked with campus constituents to restructure the residential college
  • Supported development of new undergraduate and graduate degrees
  • Implemented new faculty scholarship grants
  • Overseen development of new university academic program
  • Overseen development of The Compass Center
  • Worked with university leaders to restructure the College of Continuing and Professional Studies (now known as Drury GO).
  • Overseen successful Higher Learning Commission accreditation.
  • Worked with faculty to deliver high quality, personalized, in-person education during the COVID-19 pandemic.
