About the Art History Program
The Department of Fine and Performing Arts offers three majors in the art and art history program. Students in that program can major in art history, fine arts, or graphic and digital design.
The art history major is for students who:
- are considering application to graduate school for:
- art history
- museum studies
- art criticism
- art-architectural conservation
- want to develop an appreciation and increased understanding of the various roles that the visual arts have played in different historical contexts from the prehistoric period to the present
Take Your Education Abroad
It is strongly recommended that art history majors spend a semester studying abroad.
The Drury Study Abroad program offers both short and long term international study opportunities. Specifically for art students, in summer 2017, Dr. Tom Russo will be taking students to England for the "Medieval City, Cathedral, and Castle" study abroad trip. For 21-days our students will explore the art, architecture and urban space of London, Canterbury, Lincoln, and Durham.
