Galina Meyle has been the Administrative Assistant for Hammons School of Architecture since July 2007. She came to Hammons after serving as Office Coordinator in Drury’s Office of Admission for two years. In 2006, Galina was nominated for the staff of the year award by the fraternity and sorority community of Drury University. In 2008, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Sociology at Drury. Most recently, she has served on the Staff Advisory Council as well as the Staff Survey Committee.
Galina’s Russian-Panamanian heritage and international work experience are invaluable to the Drury Community. She majored in Finance at the University of Saint Mary in Panama. In Panama, she worked as a translator and interpreter in four languages (Spanish, Russian, French and English) for a maritime law firm. She also worked as the assistant to the Press Attaché at the French Embassy in Panama City. Her emersion in multiple cultures gives her an easy rapport with international students and faculty.
Before moving to Springfield from North Carolina in 2005, Galina served as assistant to the Dean for Pre-Major students and Director of Advising at Duke University. Continuing in her capacity of a translator, she produced a dental benefits brochure that is still distributed to all public schools in North Carolina. She also volunteered to translate documents for law students at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill helping Colombian refugees. She is passionately committed to Drury’s values of social justice, equality, and diversity.
In her spare time, she enjoys working out, reading, playing the piano, traveling and spending time with her family.
