Karen Cordes Spence, Ph.D., AIA, is an associate professor, the Associate Dean of the Hammons School of Architecture and the Director of the university’s general education curriculum, CORE: Engaging Our World. As the faculty co-chair of the Strategic Enrollment Management initiative, she serves the campus community in helping to organize, implement and communicate enrollment efforts such as piloting new events for prospective students and school groups, bringing together all areas of the university to discuss recruiting efforts, and review progress toward enrollment goals to identify what needs to be replicated as well as what needs to be reconsidered. The entire endeavor aims to complement the activities of the Offices of Admission, Marketing & Communications, Financial Aid and Student Services, introducing an approach that integrates all these facets with the academics of the university.
